Kansas Child Support Committee Seeking Parents!
« on: May 07, 2013, 10:45:42 PM »
The Kansas child support committee is asking for 4 Kansans to join the committee and become voting members/parents.  If you've read through the numerous documents on this site you might find the meeting minutes where many Kansas parents asked why the committee was to top heavy with attorneys and judges and no typical parents.  The committee is allowing 4 members who are not professionally involved with the Kansas child support system.

The news release from kscourts.org is copied below as well as the link to the application through survey monkey.

The Kansas Supreme Court is actively recruiting child support payors and recipients for appointment as community members to the Child Support Guidelines Advisory Committee.  These appointees will be voting members on the committee and will serve four-year terms.  The committee reviews the general rules governing how child support is established, evaluates the economic basis for the guidelines, and analyzes how courts may use adjustments to tailor child support obligations to meet the needs of a family.

These four community members will work with the committee to review the general rules governing how child support is established, evaluate the economic basis for the guidelines, and analyze how courts may use adjustments to tailor child support obligations to meet the needs of a family. The committee's meetings typically occur on the fourth Friday of each month during the review period.   Because the guidelines are complex and committee members often present widely differing opinions, members must be able to work together, have good written and oral communication skills, and be able to attend most meetings.

The Court urges all interested and qualified persons to view additional details and submit the application found at kscourts.org.

I would like to be considered for this committee.  I am a parent divorced since 2001 living in Johnson County KS.  I tried the link to survey monkey but it wants me to create an account which I am not real interested in.  I cannot find an application process described on the kscourt.org site so if you could help me understand this that would be great

Please try the link above again.  The link had changed for some reason so the one posted above was not working.  Please try again.  You will probably need to provide some information to the committee in order to be considered.  If you are a "finalist" they will probably review your case information to ensure you are not behind on child support and have no outstanding judgements.  But, I doubt they will be collecting case information just so they can review and publicize it.  It's already public record and anyone can access it (I hope you knew that).  You can visit the records department of any court and all you need is a name to review all filings.
