Title: 2013 Calculator coming soon?
Post by: Neipas on March 01, 2013, 02:15:49 PM
Hi i'm currently going through the whole court BS for my son.
When i used the free 2012 calculator, it said my child support should be $500/mo
When my lawyer figured the support with his 2013 software, it's $639/mo
This is a huge F'ing difference, and if this is correct, then when can we expect a 2013 calculator so other fellow parents out there getting taken to the cleaners by their ex's aren't blindsided by a huge difference in child support?

There is no difference in the child support tables.  Everything should be identical.  You should very closely check that all the assumptions made with regard to income and parenting time adjustments are also the same.  There is most probably an error somewhere because the calculators should not be off by that much.  In fact, all things being equal, both calculators should get the exact same number.

There are, however, slight differences in how this calculator works.  This is because the guidelines leave a few things open to interpretation and are not clear enough.  One such issue is rounding.  You can search this site and read more about it.
