Title: Sole Custody
Post by: cubs77 on April 14, 2016, 01:19:54 PM
I am taking my son's father back to court and requesting Sole Custody. My proposal still allows visitations, weekends, holidays, etc...  But I want to be able to have all decision making power because the father refuses to coparent or communicate with me.  When he does communicate then it is often abusive and belligerent.  Does anyone have experience with advocating for sole custody?

To make sure I understand you correctly, you want sole custody because your ex doesn't communicate with you?  He is abusive an belligerent towards whom?   Is this against you or the kids?  I don't have any problem giving you my opinion, but, I would want more information first.

In my experience, sole custody isn't all that common in Kansas.  I think many parents confuse this term with the term "primary residential custodian," who is deemed the residential parent.  From your post, I think you understand what sole custody means.  What kinds of questions do you have?
